Celeste Anchor is a historian and award-winning author whose work brings forgotten women back into the historical record. Drawing on decades of archival research, her books recover the stories of women navigators, port workers, lighthouse keepers, and seafarers whose names were omitted from official accounts.
Her approach combines rigorous historical scholarship with the pace and intimacy of literary non-fiction. She has been described as a writer who makes readers feel the salt air and understand the stakes. Her books have been translated into eleven languages.
Anchor holds a doctorate in Maritime History and is an Honorary Research Fellow at the Institute for Historical Studies. She lives between the coast and the archive, and writes about both.
